Born and raised in Oakland, California, James Walker is an alumnus of Howard University. Growing up, he developed a passion for adventure and exploration, nurtured by his fascination with channels like National Geographic and Animal Planet.
“In my adolescence, I had no peers who had traveled out of the country. So those shows gave me a glimpse of what it was like to visit countries that I barely knew about. It was so cool for me to note the many differences and similarities between my corner of the world and others. I fell in love with the idea of traveling the world to witness all it has to offer first-hand.”
In 2021, James founded Walkthrough Travel with the goal of creating a safe space for Black people to establish community and experience the world in luxury together. With his skills in consulting and growing knowledge of the travel industry, James has turned his passion into a successful travel company that specializes in creating personalized and extraordinary travel experiences.
Meet Jaleel Brown, the creative force behind JKA Digital. Originally from the Bronx, New York, Jaleel’s journey has taken him across the East Coast, ultimately leading him to Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he earned a degree in Marketing. His passion for design and technology ignited his entrepreneurial spirit, leading him to found JKA Digital in 2019.
Alongside his design career, Jaleel has spent the last two years dedicated to education as a teacher. Recently, he took on the role of department chair for his school’s social studies department, bringing the same passion and leadership to his students that he brings to his business. Balancing both fields, Jaleel continues to drive JKA Digital forward, creating visual stories and building brands from his new home base in Atlanta.
Over the years, Jaleel’s design expertise has shaped the identities of over 100 businesses, from building competitive digital brands for small businesses to subcontracting projects for the Department of Education. His work encompasses websites, marketing campaigns, logos, and more, spanning industries as diverse as service providers, e-commerce, and even cannabis dispensaries. For Jaleel, each project is an opportunity to blend creativity and strategy, helping his clients make a lasting impression.
